Springdale High School counselors Nick Rodenoure, Diane Hinton, Annick Downing, Jan Jackson and Paige Heffron are celebrating National School Counselors Week. Ridenoure is in his 10th year at SHS, fourth as a counselor. He loves "the rich tradition at Springdale High that helps build connections and relationships. I enjoy investing in the students and seeing the progress they've made when they come back to visit." Hinton is in her sixth year at SHS after spending 30 years in the Kansas City area. She says, "I love the diversity here. There is something new every day. I love seeing our kids succeed." Downing is in her eighth year at SHS after moving from Pulaski County. She says, "I appreciate the diversity of our students from where they come from to where they are going. I counsel IB (International Baccalaureate) students, whose college lists include Harvard, Stanford and Princeton, as well as students who are going to technical school." Jackson, in her first year at SHS, says, "I've worked in a lot of other districts but I've never seen a group of educators work so hard to see their students succeed. I love the kids, the teachers, everything about the school. Our kids work hard and the teachers go the extra 10 miles." Heffron is in her second year at SHS. She says, "I love the students here. Our students are from so many different backgrounds. Their stories are amazing when you find out what many of them have overcome. It's awesome the way our staff works together to do the best for our students." Great, caring counselors help make Springdale Public Schools #THEChoice.
