At John Tyson Elementary, our computer lab has been equipped with 29 computer work stations. Each classroom is also equipped with a cart of Chromebooks or iPads which will provide one technology device for each student in a classroom. The students use quite an assortment of learning programs throughout the year. Although "skill-and-drill" software is useful in the school setting, we are working to increase student computer literacy through keyboarding skills and basic computer applications. The children often use Google Docs or online programs as a learning tool. Other computer programs that are used include: Accelerated Reader, Type to Learn, Reader Rabbit 1,2 & 3, HelpMe2Learn, IXL, Microsoft Office, and we are constantly adding new online programs to expand the learning range.
